Blighty no flighty.

News reached us late last night that reservist Steve Blight has indeed had to pull out of the challenge. Whilst this is a blow to the team standby reservist James Gedye is all set to take up the mantle.
At 2pm today the team will be travelling from London to team hotel and kind donator The Fleur du Lys in Sandwich for a 4pm arrival 12 hours ahead of the epic 1st tee off of a very long day at the Princes course in Kent.

The Willow Open Challenge

To complete 108 holes of golf on all Open Championship courses in England in less than one day.

A record breaking attempt to play 108 holes, travelling more than 35o miles and walking 35 miles all in one day, Sunday 21st June.

The team will be the first golfers in recorded history to attempt this unique challenge having chosen the longest day to take advantage of the daylight hours. They will tee off in Kent at 4.15am and expect to complete the challenge in Lytham St Annes, Lancashire, before it gets dark at 10pm. The golfers will start their day at Princes in Sandwich, Kent, then play Royal St Georges in Sandwich, Royal Cinque Ports in Deal, Royal Liverpool in Hoylake, Royal Birkdale in Southport, and Royal Lytham & St Annes. All golf clubs are generously supporting the challenge. Micheal Owen's twin-engined helicopter will jet the team from Kent to Lancashire and around the Lancashire courses to achieve their one-day goal. Despite this luxury the golfers won’t be allowed buggies or caddies on the day.

The challenge is in aid of The Willow Foundation, a unique charity providing special days to very sick and often terminally ill young adults. The team hope to raise around £100,000.
